Copell Financial History
Copell Financial was established in 2005 by James Copell and Richard Mason to validate their long held belief that any organization built on integrity as their cornerstone, accompanied by a responsibility and obligation to give their best effort for their client, will not only survive, but will in fact grow to prominence, in one of America's most competitive industries.
Almost from inception Copell Financial was judged by independent ranking agencies to be one of the top performing independent equity research firms in the United States, while patiently biding its time to achieve their long term goal to enter the world of money management.
In January of 2008, the objective of money management became a reality with the acquisition of Trust & Fiduciary Management Services , a Boston based firm with a long history of managing money for banks and trust companies in New England. In the process, Copell added two outstanding and experienced money managers each with well over thirty years of investment experience honed in our nations leading financial institutions.
Steve Carhart and Dana Merrill are two of the finest thinkers the world of finance has produced. Their long track records, including restoring one of the countries oldest closed end funds back to its former prominence, to managing the pension funds of DuPont, Mercedes North America, and Ontario Hydro to name only a few demanded our attention. These partners are men of high character and content who share a common emphasis on fiduciary responsibility and transparency.
Copell Financial is positioned for future growth in important markets and sectors within the financial services industry through a strategic acquisition and alliance strategy to complement its internal development.
Copell has the ability to efficiently evaluate future cash flow statistics on over four thousand US publicly traded companies as a result of an alliance with one of the most reliable cash flow databases in the world. The firm's seven team proprietary fundamental approach to investing, and focus on entry points, in combination with its above stated quantitative ability positions the firm on a solid foundation.
Today, Trust & Fiduciary Management Services provides asset management services for unions, endowments, family offices, banks, law firms, municipalities, corporations, high net worth investors, colleges and universities. Copell Financial remains a leader in the field of research and in bringing important global industry innovation to collaborate with local government, colleges, universities and labor in the United States.
